tax law updates

10.03.08

On October 3rd Congress passed and the President signed the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008. Within this legislation is a two year extension of the IRA Charitable Rollover. This provision, originally passed in 2006, permits IRA owners starting at age 70.5 to make tax-free charitable gifts up to $100,000.00 per year from their IRAs directly to their favorite charities. This provision will expire on December 31, 2009 but for the next two years this is a great way to help a great organization such as the BGCS Foundation.
